#6 - Repurposing Failure
Nothin’ says “grrr!” like layin’ the smack down on an annoying Golbat! That confuse attack gets to be really bothersome after the second, nay, third application thereof! So uh, yeah, I’m playing Pokemon Diamond, so help me.There’s something about the toothy grin of my Floatzel that really makes me want to tell him “Eat!” when attacking a foe such as Bidoof. He certainly seems to be leering over the bite size morsel as though he’s really freakin’ hungry.
Analyzing Pokemon with any degree of realism takes a dark turn very quickly, when you realize it’s nothing more than a cute dog fight. Pitting these trusting creatures against each other can be regarded as very unpleasant, even though no Pokemon in the game ever does more than faint when defeated.
I choose to play with an awareness of its roots, and consider that this competition is safely bringing together people who would never otherwise meet. Games are what we make of them, and the rewards for charged rivalry when met by sportsmanship, are obvious.
So I don’t bat an eye at anyone who might give me a strange look for playing this game. Why should I? It’s a challenging, pleasant to regard stress reliever - not to mention maintainer of my sanity.
So there!
Oh, enjoy the comic! Heheh. ^^
