#74 - Can I Has Impractical Design Plz?
So I’ve been making some royal noise lately, but unless you’re on my Livejournal Friends list, you wouldn’t actually know that. Your call.Ahhh… since this Phoenix Wright storyline is going so well - is this really what I get for scripting things? - I have been considering a number of possible “upgrade paths”. Namely, merging OTR with Press ESC.
Unlikely? Readers of OTR would see the connection between the two… and it would be easy to pull off. That’s part of my compunction with the idea… It would be too easy. Web comics, particularly sprite comics, require extra creative effort to distinquish themselves from the literal tens of thousands of comics out there.
You really have to be doing something interesting and different. OTR had some real strengths there - a main character the likes of which have never been seen anywhere. Press ESC is getting points for similiar originality… but the ability to go professional at the flick of a pen is far more important to me than what has essentially become child’s play.
It’s not work. That is to say, it’s not ENOUGH work. It’s true everyone believes they have the best, unique concept - but only the creators organized and skilled enough to go to paper are able to evidence that fact.
For me it’s a matter of holding back. There are things I want to say, and Press ESC just isn’t expressing enough. Take today, for instance - I’ve been tottering around that image for some time, interested in the absurdity of the design. I mean really - 70lbs of belt leather? Probably more! Good freaking grief!
Well - nevermind all that for now. I’ll post something more in depth when I can later. I’ve got to get some sleep.
