#135 - Merry Christmas!

However you might be giving or recieving this season, don’t forget the why, rather than the how. Working in retail I am closely associated with the compensation in the gift for what may be an emotional gap.

Let us not forget that the gift what we do, not what we can place in another’s hands. Whatever you may offer, if it is given with the sincerity and purity of good intent, then it is of value enough.

A note about the above picture: None of Press ESC’s cast members have traditional families, but they do have each other, at least, that’s what they’re going to find out. You may have wondered about that - this comic’s goals and message seem to be inconsistent, but in truth it is finding itself.

Buddy loves his sister, and clearly will allow nothing to stand in the way of his role as her protector. Is this programmed, or is it something he chose? Dusk left herself behind, but has she really abandoned her birthplace and creator?

Rand is best described as a train; heedless power on a single track without restraint or hesitation. Will he betray his schoolmate and best friend? Nyrin, meanwhile, has more important goals than just his friends to worry about. How will he defeat Doros and prevent him from destributing more Shade Seeds?

It’s been a wonderful year, with so many challanges and opportunities to grow. I’ve had the chance to develop Press ESC into a web comic to be proud of; attended my first Anime Con with Nyrin and my nephew; saw the birth of Press ESC’s first sub-comic; welcomed my second nephew into the world; learned and grew as a retail employee; discovered my career destiny; and truly accepted that hope exists.

Pick it up, carry it forward, and remember, you’re not alone.
